1. Understand Aquaculture Systems

   • Learn about the different systems used to farm tilapia, including pens, cages, and rearing ponds.
      

2. Manage Water Quality

   • Identify the factors that impact water quality in different systems.
   • Understand photosynthesis and respiration processes in rearing pond environments.
   • Recognize daily variations in oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in water.
      

3. Optimize Pond Conditions

   • Understand the effects of excessive nutrients in ponds.
      

4. Maintain Appropriate Stocking Density

   • Understand why density is not currently scored as a welfare indicator.

   • Identify the causes of off-flavours in tilapia.

   • Understand critical parameters like temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, alkalinity, nitrite, transparency, photoperiod, and predator/competitor presence.
   • Know the optimal values for each parameter.
   • Learn how to measure and control each parameter effectively.
      

8. Utilize the Tilapia Welfare App

   • Use the app to record and track welfare performance on your farm.
   • Leverage the app to manage and improve the overall farmed environment.
